According to the Higher Education Act, SöderS 'core business must be to monitor and participate in the development of education and the conditions for studies at the university. This is mainly done by SöderS as we are responsible for student representation at the university, working to ensure that Södertörn University's students are represented in all decision-making and preparation bodies at the university. These student representatives should be well versed in their assignment and be active in the university's quality-driving work.
All student representatives must be offered training opportunities in order to be able to make the best possible impact through their student representative assignments. Reviewing and developing routines and forms for student representation is a constant work that always needs to be developed. SöderS should always be on hand to assist students with individual guidance and counseling on issues that are study-related and that relate to educational quality.
SöderS shall be an active voice in student politics locally as well as regionally and nationally. The local influence work at Södertörn University largely consists of SöderS being represented in various university-wide bodies and working to follow up on the decisions made, for example through different working groups or in dialogue with the university. An important part is to ensure that the work with Södertörn University's vision continues to make visible the parts that directly affect the students and their studies.
SöderS works to make Campus Flemingsberg an attractive place to spend time at, even outside of studies. Part of the work with a strengthened campus spirit is to work with, and encourage, activities that strengthen the study social environment and working life through events in the campus area. SöderS shall provide meeting places for social contexts.
In addition, SöderS should continue to push the issue of common premises for all students at Campus Flemingsberg, this to promote a stronger campus spirit and a more vibrant campus.
Part of strengthening the campus spirit also involves encouraging and strengthening SöderS 'operations and member associations as well as collaboration between them. This is done, among other things, by offering support in the form of tools, guidance and funds that make it easier for students to start and successfully run member associations and businesses.
It is of great importance that Flemingsberg is an attractive area to live and work in. SöderS is working to highlight the importance of student housing and good access to commerce and leisure activities in Huddinge municipality. SöderS is also working on providing relevant member discounts in the immediate area.
SöderS should, among other things, work with Flemingsberg's United Student Union to work to promote Huddinge Municipality's work to make Flemingsberg an attractive regional center. The development of Flemingsberg is important for all students at Södertörn University and SöderS should work to monitor and influence the development so that the result is the best possible for all students at Campus Flemingsberg.
In order to be a long-term and sustainable non-profit organization, SöderS needs to have a work environment that is sustainable for both elected representatives and non-profit activists. In order to strengthen the work environment and continuously follow up work at the SöderS office, it is important that there is an ongoing dialogue with those responsible at the office. In order for SöderS as an organization to develop, it is also included in the ongoing operations to develop the assignments that exist within SöderS and to ensure a sustainable financial situation.
For long-term sustainability and expansion, SöderS's communicative work is a cornerstone. This is to ensure awareness of SöderS with its mission as a student union and its activities to ensure that SöderS is a democratically based organization among the students of the university. The communicative work also forms the basis for strengthening knowledge of and interest in SöderS's trust assignment.
The SöderS Board needs to continuously review policy documents to keep them relevant and alive.
It is important for SöderS internal structure that the relationship between the Board and SöderS members is strong and transparent. The Board should always be represented at the union council meetings to be able to discuss and answer questions.
