Seminar: International perspective on the life situation and rights of LGBTQ+ people - Iran and Russia

August 4th, 1 - 1.45 PM, Pride House (C5, 2nd floor)

This year, Academic Pride's seminar will have an international focus with the aim of raising the life situation of LGBTQ+ people in Iran and Russia. What rights do they have and what can the world's international solidarity and politics look like?

Participants are Shadi Amin, director of 6rang, Iranian Lesbian and Transgender Network, and Kirill Polkov from Södertörn University and doctoral student in gender studies. Shadi Amin has researched gender discrimination, systematic oppression against women and the state of female homosexuals and transgender people in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Kiroll Polkov examines the role homosexuality plays in media and cultural representations of Russia in the Swedish context. The seminar will be held at Pride House and the conversation will be in English.
