Join us for Stockholm Pride 2023!

Academic Pride is a collaboration around Stockholm Pride between several of Stockholm's universities and student associations. The purpose is to highlight the importance of LGBTQIA+ issues in institutions of higher education, both in research and education as well as inclusive working practices and study environments.

Together under the same flag, Academic Pride, walks Stockholm School of Economics, Karolinska Institutet, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University and Södertörn University. Together, we welcome employees and students to participate in Stockholm Pride with us.

Seminar: International perspective on the life situation and rights of LGBTQ+ people - Iran and Russia

August 4th, 1 - 1.45 PM, Pride House (C5, 2nd floor)

This year, Academic Pride's seminar will have an international focus with the aim of raising the life situation of LGBTQ+ people in Iran and Russia. What rights do they have and what can the world's international solidarity and politics look like?

Participants are Shadi Amin, director of 6rang, Iranian Lesbian and Transgender Network, and Kirill Polkov from Södertörn University and doctoral student in gender studies. Shadi Amin has researched gender discrimination, systematic oppression against women and the state of female homosexuals and transgender people in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Kiroll Polkov examines the role homosexuality plays in media and cultural representations of Russia in the Swedish context. The seminar will be held at Pride House and the conversation will be in English.

Preparty with Academic Pride!

The pride parade starts at Norr Mälarstrand at 1 p.m., but you can also join our pre-party! We gather in the Atrium at the Stockholm School of Economics, Bertil Ohlins gata 5, at 10.30am.

Light food and alcohol-free drinks will be served to pre-registered participants. Free t‑shirts, flags and face paint will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Register for the pre-parade event no later than Saturday, July 29.

Walk in the parade!

All students, university employees, alumni and partners are welcome to take part to actively show your support for equal rights and opportunities for all. You are also most welcome to join the parade without attending the pre-parade event. Just look for the Academic Pride truck on Norr Mälarstrand or jump into the parade as it passes by.
