Summer Information 2024

🇸🇪 På svenska →

The sun is shining and so are you.

The semester is over and the corridors echo sadly empty. The student union, on the other hand, continues to scurry around to end the business year and get us ready for the start of the autumn term.

Here is some summer information that may be useful to keep track of.

Opening hours and the office's availability

The office is closed June 10 - August 18, 2024

During this period the premises will be locked. Associations that need to enter the premises during the period need to contact us beforehand via info@soders.nu

During the summer, we have longer response and processing times due to vacation. You will find answers to frequently asked questions below.

Answers to frequently asked questions

Vacant workforce should not mean that you as a student, new or old, should feel lost. Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions during the period.

How do I get paid for my assignment as a student representative?

If you are a member of the student union and have been elected by the same as a member of a council at the university, you are entitled to remuneration for your assignment. Information and registration can be found here. The application for fees must be made no later than 30 days after the end of the semester, i.e. no later than July 2nd 2024.

Can I become a member of the student union now?

If you accepted your acceptance letter to Södertörn University for the autumn semester 2024, you can become a member. You can register your membership here and the membership will be activated when your study registration (study rate) reaches our system. You can also become a member on site with us during the week at the start of the semester.

If you are already a student and wish to renew your membership, you can do this via the same link as above.

What do I do if I feel unfairly treated by a teacher or examiner?

If you feel that you have been wrongly treated by someone at the university, you should contact our student and doctoral representatives. Regardless of whether you consider yourself to have been wrongly assessed on an examination, have been treated badly or have problems with your study and work environment, we assist with support and guidance.

Contact us here and we will get back to you as soon as possible after the holidays.

What happens during the start of the semester?

The start week of the autumn semester is week 36. The week will be filled with solemn ceremony, introduction to the university's activities and kick-off activities organized by our associations. All information about the start of the semester will be published on our website.

I am a new student and would like an introduction to the university. What should I do?

On August 28th 2024, together with the university, we organize Head Start. During the day, you get a tour of the college and have the opportunity to meet various support functions, such as Funka, Study and career guidance - and the student union. Read more about the head start here.

I have accepted my admission to the university - but how do I register?

Registration takes place in different ways depending on the course you are going to study. Either you register digitally or you attend a so-called Call. Here you will find what applies to you.

How do I get the Mecenat Card?

The digital Mecenat Card is sent out automatically to registered students at Södertörn University two weeks after the start of the semester. If you want your discount card earlier, you need to become a member of the student union. You will then immediately receive the combined membership and Mecenat card.

I have become a member and joined SSSB's housing queue - but my membership is not updated?

The synchronizations between our membership system and SSSB are limited during the summer. However, you can stand in the housing queue for 90 days without being a member, so you don't have to worry about them being lost.

After 90 days, you need to have a registered study pace and an active membership. In order to sign a lease with SSSB, you need to study at least 50%.

Read more about SSSB's housing conditions here.

I will apply for exchange studies and would like a certificate of merit points. What should I do?

The last day to apply for a remaining place for exchange studies is July 15th 2024. If you have been involved in the student union during your studies, you may be entitled to credit points that increase your chances for exchange studies. The last day to apply for merit points is June 30th 2024.
