Answers to frequently asked questions

Vacant workforce should not mean that you as a student, new or old, should feel lost. Below you will find answers to frequently asked questions during the period. If you do not find an answer to what you are looking for, please contact us at info@soders.nu and we will answer you when we are back.

How do I get paid for my assignment as a student representative?

If you are a member of the student union and have been elected by the same as a member of a council at the university, you are entitled to remuneration for your assignment. Information and registration can be found here. The application for fees must be made no later than 30 days after the end of the semester, i.e. no later than February 13, 2024.

Can I pay my union fee now?

If you accepted your acceptance letter to Södertörn University for the spring term 2024, you can become a member. You can register your membership here and the membership will be activated when your study registration (study rate) reaches our system. You can also become a member on site with us during the week at the start of the semester.

If you are already a student and wish to renew your membership, you can do this via the same link as above.

What do I do if I feel unfairly treated by a teacher or examiner?

If you feel that you have been wrongly treated by someone at the university, you should contact our student and doctoral representatives. Regardless of whether you consider yourself to have been wrongly assessed on an examination, have been treated badly or have problems with your study and work environment, we assist with support and guidance. Contact us here and we will get back to you as soon as possible after the holidays.

When will I find out what happens during the start of the semester?

The start week of the spring term is week 3, January 15-19. The week will be filled with solemn ceremony, introduction to the university's activities and kick-off activities organized by our associations. All information about the start of the semester can be found here.

I am a new student and would like a larger but simple introduction to the university. What should I do?

On January 10, 2024, together with the university, we organize Head Start. During the day, you get a tour of the college and have the opportunity to meet various support functions, such as Funka, Study and career guidance - and the student union. Read more about the head start here.

I have accepted my admission - but how do I register?

Registration takes place in different ways depending on the course you are going to study. Either you register digitally or you attend a so-called Call. Here you will find what applies to you.

How do I get the Mecenat Card?

The digital Mecenat Card is sent out automatically to registered students at Södertörn University two weeks after the start of the semester. If you want your discount card earlier, you need to become a member of the student union. You will then immediately receive the combined membership and Mecenat card.

I am a member and joined SSSB's housing queue - but my membership is not updated. Why?

During the winter holidays, the synchronizations between our membership system and SSSB are limited. However, you can stand in the housing queue for 90 days without being a member, so you don't have to worry about them being lost.

After 90 days, you need to have a registered study pace and an active membership. In order to sign a lease with SSSB, you need to study at least 50%.
